UA forum will address New Media | CF

Clipped Fresh — By Christopher Spencer on October 27, 2009 at 1:14 PM

UA Forum Will Address New Media – ArkansasBusiness.com .

FROM THE ARTICLE: A panel of working online journalists will discuss “The Fog of New Media” during a three-day forum, Nov. 4-6, hosted by the Walter J. Lemke Department of Journalism at the University of Arkansas.

COMMENT: I would have thought someone working in Arkansas in independent hyperlocal news media might be involved, but alas it’s mostly legacy media types.

I wondered the same thing on my blog. How can this be viewed as unbiased?

I think there will be a needed element that is missing from the discussion, but still I’m interested to hear what the local web editors have to say about the future of print in the area.

Me, too. Their perspective is always valuable, even if the conventional wisdom among newspapers reminds me of an ostrich with its head in the sand.

I haven’t heard the perspectives of these individuals though, and I do know there are web professionals at our local papers who are realistic and even visionary about the future of news. But the lack of inclusion still leaves me skeptical.
