I never thought I would be a Ryan Adams fan. I had given up long ago. I would listen to my friends rave about his CDs and concerts, but for me somehow his music just didn’t click. Fast forward to a few months ago when I downloaded my first iTunes with Genius. Suddenly, Adams’ Cardinology was at the top of my recommended list, which made sense given my musical tastes.

Naturally, I ignored it for months before I finally decided to take yet another listen. Much to my surprise, I ended up downloading not only that album but also every album in Adams’ back catalog. My favorite Ryan Adams song changes almost daily and he has become a staple on my drive to and from work each day, but “Nobody Girl” is a song that I always hit “repeat” several times on.

It sounds like Adams, Gillian Welch, David Rawlings and Neil Young (circa Everybody Knows This is Nowhere) wrote a song together. It starts out as a sad, sparse ballad before exploding into a long, slow jam. Just awesome.
