Ten weeks ahead | From the Publisher’s Laptop

From the Publisher's Laptop, Opinion — By Christopher Spencer on August 27, 2009 at 3:36 PM

publisherMigration is never easy.

It wasn’t easy for those early humans crossing the Bering Strait into North America. It was especially hard for the oppressed and repressed Puritans who crossed the Atlantic Ocean to form the first British colonies on the eastern seaboard.

So to is migrating from one internet server to another a difficult task. It’s rife with strange and unknown terrors like database incompatibilities and conflicting URLs. But like any brave pilgrim in a strange land, Ozarks Unbound is navigating that territory.

It’s actually nothing that dramatic, but we’re moving everything to a new server right now. We will pull in an older hobby blog I used to run called Fayettevittles, a site focused on local eats and general foodie goodness. My hope is that I can give that site a facelift, keep the solid content that is there and make it a hub for local food news. It will be part of the Ozarks Unbound brand, but have it’s own identity.

Tracy Rogers offered up some great tunes on Songbook this week, including an awesome song by the son of the late Anthony Perkins from Psycho. I plan to keep my eye on Elvis Perkins from here out.

Bruce Castleberry started this week’s Songbook entry with Radiohead’s “Let Down” a song that I’ve heard many times but never realized its charms until I listened to it while laying out the post. He helped me discover a missed jewel in Radiohead’s vast catalogue.

Thanks for visiting Ozarks Unbound for another week. I appreciate it.
