Pike Place Market opens and 538 Ways to Live, Work and Play Liberally | OU Daily Crier for Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010

Today in 1907, Pike Place Market opened in Seattle, Wash.

It’s the birthplace of the now famous Starbucks coffee chain.

It continues to be one of the longest continually run farmers markets in the country. It boasts floors of artisan craftsman, fishmongers, farmers and even a comic book store.

Events

There will be a cooking demonstration at Ozark Natural Foods at 5 p.m.This demo features Greenhouse Grille Executive Chef Jerrmy Gawthrop

Justin Krebs, the co-founder of Drinking Liberally, will be at Nightbird Books from 5 to 6 p.m. today. He is the author of 538 Ways to Live, Work and Play Like a Liberal.
