FROM THE CITY’S BLOG: The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) recently graded over 600 US cities as part of their Smarter Cities campaign. Cities were ranked in areas such as air quality, energy production and conservation, green building, and a host of additional categories pertaining to sustainable living practices. In the end Fayetteville ranked #6 in the “overall” small cities category with Bellingham, WA placing #1. We scored #1 in the Environmental Standards and Participation category; no doubt buoyed by City Plan 2025 and the Fayetteville Alternative Transportation and Master Plan. We also scored well in Green Space and Water Quality. For more info go to NRDC’s Smarter Cities. Seattle was ranked the #1 large city in America.
