Northwest Arkansas Newspapers will launch redesigned site for Web readers Dec. 1 | CF

Clipped Fresh — By Christopher Spencer on November 29, 2009 at 11:12 AM

Papers launch redesigned site for Web readers.

FROM THE POST: “We have all heard the old saying, ‘There is no such thing as a free lunch,’” said Jeff Jeffus, president of Northwest Arkansas Newspapers. “More and more newspapersare realizing they can no longer spend millions of dollars investing in talented editorial staffs that collect hyper-local content for our readers to enjoy and give it away for free on the Internet, especially in today’s economy.” (Emphasis added)

COMMENT: I welcome the redesign on Tuesday. I hope it will make the site easier to navigate. It sounds like it will. Good luck on the re-launch.

Just curious… why did you add the emphasis?

I just thought the use of the buzzword “hyperlocal” was an interesting choice for Jeffus.

Before “hyperlocal” the buzzword was “intensely local.”

Translated, it means “we have no wire service so we have to fill pages somehow.”
