Four dead in plane crash near West Fork (Update: Names released) | Press Release

UPDATED:  02-06-2010 at 7:00 p.m.

Preliminary investigation by Washington County Sheriff’s Office investigators has confirmed a Beechcraft A36, single-engine airplane left the Hot Springs Airport in Hot Springs, AR. at approximately 11:00 a.m. today enroute to Drake Field Airport in Fayetteville, AR.  The airplane crashed in a field near Oak Grove Rd. (WC 238) in south Washington County.  The four (4) confirmed fatalities are:  Pilot – Edward COOPER, W/M, (46) of Hot Springs, AR., Mary COOPER, W/F, (16) of Hot Springs, AR., Elizabeth COOPER, W/F, (14) of Hot Springs, AR., and Martin DRAPER, W/M, (57) of Hot Springs, AR.

The victim’s bodies were released to the Washington County Coroner’s Office.  Federal investigators are on the scene and the investigation is continuing.

February 6, 2010

Washington County Sheriff Tim Helder announced today a plane crash occurred south of West Fork in the Brentwood Mountain area.

On February 6, 2010 at 11:48 a.m. the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a report from a witness that a small plane had crashed in the Brentwood Mountain area south of West Fork, AR. Upon arrival, deputies and medical personnel discovered a Beechcraft, single-engine airplane had crashed in a field off of Oak Grove Rd. (WC 238) in south Washington County; two (2) fatalities have been confirmed. Emergency personnel are still on the scene. We will provide additional information as it becomes available for release.

UPDATED: There are now four (4) confirmed fatalities.
