Five Washington County races headed to the election; only one headed to primary

Final names are in. Filing closed at noon today. The list is settled unless a write-in candidate suddenly materializes.
Only one county race is headed to the May primary aside from the county constable races (which we are not covering yet – no offense, constables),
That race and four others will then be decided in November during the general election.
Incumbent Justice of the Peace Mary Ann Spears of Farmington will face off against another Republican in May for the Quorum Court’s District 11 seat. Gail Biswell True of Farmington filed for the seat. After the primary, the winner will go up against Democrat candidate James F. Gallagher.
Looking toward November, incumbent Barbara Fitzpatrick, D-Fayetteville, is running against Republican Richard E. DeMay of Fayetteville for the District 6 seat. Eva Madison, D-Fayetteville, and Tony Pirani, R-Fayetteville will square off for Steve Zega’s seat in District 8. Finally, incumbent Jack W. Norton, D-Canehill, will defend his position as the District 10 Justice of the Peace against Republican Rick Cochran of Fayetteville.
Among the executive branch of county officers only County Assessor Lee Ann Kizzar, D-Fayetteville, faces a challenger. Voters get to decide between Kizzar and Republican Jeff Williams in November during the general election.
