March 7th-14th @ BENTONVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY

Library Lessons for Homeschool Students @ bENTONVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY

Every Monday Bentonville Public library presents literature based classes that provide instruction in library use to Kindergarten through 3rd grade Homeschool students.  Classes will address the Arkansas Department of Education Library Media Frameworks.    Kindergarten and First Grade students will meet at 1:00 pm.  Second and Third grade students will meet at 1:30 pm.  Classes will not meet on Monday March, 21st.  For more information, contact the library at 271-6816 or logon to bentonvillelibrary.org

FREE ACT PREP WORKSHOP @ BENTONVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY

Monday, March 7th from 6:00-7:30 pm

Free ACT Prep Workshop presented by Bryan Hembree, Director of the College Access Initiative at the University of Arkansas in the Walmart Community Room of BPL. Learn motivating strategies and a fresh approach to conquering the ACT. Registration is not required. This event sponsored by BPL’s Teen Advisory Board. CHILDREN’S STORYTIMES @ BENTONVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY

Babies are featured at Bentonville Public Library storytimes the week of March 8th through March 10th.  Toddler Storytimes for early walkers and talkers are presented on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 9:30 am.  Preschool Storytimes for 3 through 5 year old children are presented on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings at 10:30 am. Preschool storytimes always include a craft. Baby Play & Rhyme Time @ bentonville public library

Prewalkers and their caregivers are invited to Bentonville Public Library for a lap sit storytime on Thursday mornings at 9:30 am.  Baby Play & Rhyme Time is filled with short books, bubbles, finger plays, music and lap games.  This interactive library time lasts about 15 minutes.  For more information view the library calendar at bentonvillelibrary.org. or contact 271-6816.

 

FOLDING FRIENDS—ORIGAMI @ BENTONVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY

Wednesday, March 9 @ 4:00 pm

Youthful origami enthusiasts will meet in the Rotary Room at Bentonville Public Library to share skills in the art of folding paper.  Origami can help children concentrate, follow instructions and practice patience as they create various origami models. thursday Movie Matinees @ BENTONVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY

Movie Matinees are shown every Thursdays @ 4:00 pm in the Walmart Community Room of the Bentonville Public Library. In this week’s family movie a nanny arrives to help a harried young mother who is trying to run the family farm while her husband is away at war. She uses her magic to teach the woman’s children and their two spoiled cousins five new lessons.  Movie presentations are free to the public. CHINESE LANGUAGE LESSONS @ BENTONVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY

Saturday, March 12th @ 9:00 am

Children of all ages can drop-in the Read Aloud Area of the Bentonville Public Library for lessons in Chinese on Saturday, March 12th.  Volunteer, Nick Lai will share his native language, Chinese, with fun songs, conversations, games and stories.  Classes will not meet on Saturday, March 19th or Saturday, March 26th due to spring break.  Keep up with your Chinese language practice on Mango, an online language learning system available on Bentonville Public Library’s website. READ WITH JESSE @ BENTONVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY

Saturday, March 12th @ 10:00 am

Bentonville Public Library invites all animal lovers to Read with Jesse, a Therapy Dog on Saturday, March 12th, at 10:00 a.m. in the Bogle Family Children’s Library.  Jesse, a yellow lab and her owner, Teresa Robinson are a registered Therapy Dog Team and active members of Helping Paws of Northwest Arkansas.  Reading with a dog is fun and can help children increase enthusiasm for reading, develop reading skills, and gain confidence in interacting with animals. International Storytime @ Bentonville Public Library

Saturday, March 12th @ 2:00 pm

Children of all ages are invited to International Storytime in the Children’s Read-Aloud Area of Bentonville Public Library on Saturday, March 12th at 2:00 pm.  Volunteer readers will share The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear by Don and Audrey Wood in multiple languages.  Craft activities for children are included in this event. Girl Bookworms Book club @ BENTONVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY

Monday, March 14th @ 5:00 pm

On Monday, March 14th at 5:00 p.m. it’s time for girls’ ages 10-12 yrs. old to talk, discuss, chat and share ideas about Water Steps by Arkansas author, A. LaFaye in the Read Aloud area of Bentonville Public Library.  There’s a lot to discuss in this tale of adventure, family lore and learning to conquer fear. Girl Bookworms will create a cool craft related to the story. Participants will also pick up the book for next month’s discussion, Chasing Vermeer by Blue Balliett.   Books are provided by the AR State Library and are available for pick-up at BPL. TEEN BOOK DISCUSSION @ BENTONVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY

Monday, March 14th @ 6:30 pm

On Monday, March 14th at 6:30 pm an informal teen book discussion group will meet in the Library Café at Bentonville Public Library. Participants will share snacks and spirited discussion of Eli the Good by Silas House.  The author’s website describes this book as “a tender and profound look at the complexities of childhood, at the problems and power of being different, and the realities of war — this is a quintessentially American novel filled with music, nostalgic detail, a deep respect for nature, and a powerful sense of place.”  Eli the Good is the winner of the first annual Storylines Prize.
