Fayetteville Police Chief Greg Tabor today released more information regarding the ongoing investigation into the death of Jill Ulmer.
Preliminary information from the State Medical Examiner’s Office indicates cause of death was due to multiple stab wounds and a gunshot. It was determined a shot fired by the responding officers struck Ms. Ulmer as she was viciously and repeatedly stabbed by the suspect. The information released by the Medical Examiner’s Office indicates that while the multiple stab wounds were determined to have been fatal, so too was the gunshot wound. The Medical Examiner’s Officer also confirmed Ms. Ulmer was pregnant at the time of her death. The Fayetteville Police Department is saddened by the tragic death of Ms. Ulmer. It is unfortunate our efforts to prevent her murder were unsuccessful. Per police department policy, the responding Fayetteville Police Officers have been placed on administrative leave pending results of an internal investigation.
At the request of Chief Tabor the Washington County Sheriff’s Office has been asked to conduct an independent investigation into the actions of the police officers. It’s been the practice of the Fayetteville Police Department to ask for an independent investigation of deadly force incidents.
Ricky Ray Anderson is still being held at the Washington County Detention Center pending the filing of formal charges.
