Botanical Garden’s photo contest begins Sunday | Community Announcement

The Botanical Garden is having a photo contest. Submit your pictures for a chance to be in our First Annual BGO calendar.

Here are the rules:

• A maximum of three photographs per person.

• Accepting digital photographs only.

• Open to all amateur photographers. The contest is closed to Garden staff and professional photographers. (Any person receiving compensation for photographs is not permitted.)

• Contest photographs must have been taken at the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks, seasonal photos are encouraged.

• Photographs will be judged by a committee of professional photographers.

• Photographers agree to let the Garden use both their photograph and their name on the Garden website, calendar and future Garden publications.

• Photographs must be accompanied by a description of the photo including the date and Garden location.

• Photographs must be of high-quality jpg formatting. Submit photos beginning on August 1, 2010 to contest@bgozarks.org .

• Deadline for submitting photographs is midnight on August 31, 2010.

• No print submissions will be accepted.

• Excessive retouching or alteration of photos not permitted.

• The Garden/plants/animals/insects/fixtures/people should not be harmed or disturbed while taking photographs.

• No age limits, but no age categories either—one contest for all photographers.

• Written parental consent required for contestants under 18 years of age.

• Winning photographs will be displayed at the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks.

• No cash prizes.

Submit all entries via email to: contest@bgozarks.org with the following information:

1) Name

2) Address

3) Phone

4) Email Address

5) Date, time & place in the Garden the Photo was taken

6) Parental consent if under 18 years of age. (Proof of age is required for all winners.)
Prizes:

The Grand prize winner’s photograph will be featured on the cover of the calendar (in addition to one of the months of our choosing.) They will receive a complimentary family membership to the Garden for 1 year plus 5 calendars.

The eleven runners up will have their photographs featured on our calendar as well our website. Each winner will receive a complimentary individual membership to the Garden for 1 year plus 2 calendars.

One grand prize winner and 11 runners up will be selected by our team of judges. The Grand Prize winner and runners-up will be announced on our website on September 20, 2010.

Calendars will be available for sale at the Garden by October 15, 2010.
