**UPDATE: 11-26-09 - On Thursday, November 26, 2009, The Rogers Police Department was notified the victim, Jorge Gregory Orta, was pronounced dead at St. Johns Medical Center in Springfield Missouri. The body will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy to be completed. **
Charges filed against Aristo Chavez, Jr. have been amended to Capital Murder. The investigation continues.

For Immediate Release: Shooting Investigation
On Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at approximately 4:24 a.m., the Rogers Police Department received a report of a shooting incident at South Wind Place Apartments. Upon investigation, reports reflect that a residential door was kicked in and an altercation ensued between several males at 2002 Commons Drive. One male suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was transported via ambulance to the hospital. The victim was reported to be in stable condition. Witnesses stated several males fled the scene prior to officer arrival.
Investigation lead to the arrest of Aristero Chavez, Jr., 25, of Rogers. Chavez was charged with the following offenses: Attempted 1st Degree Murder, Aggravated Robbery, and Residential Burglary. Chavez is currently being held at the Benton County Jail awaiting a probable cause bond hearing.
The investigation revealed there may be further witnesses to the incident. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Rogers Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division at 621-1129. The incident remains under investigation and there is no further information at this time.
