A little light on content the past few days | From the Publisher’s Laptop
Banner, From the Publisher's Laptop, Opinion — By Christopher Spencer on March 15, 2010 at 1:33 amA lot of you know that Ozarks Unbound is mostly a one-man shop.
We have some awesome contributors who put forth fantastic content, but for day-to-day stuff I’m usually the one keeping the laptop keys moving.
You might have noticed a drop in content the last few days. Please don’t think Ozarks Unbound is going dark, or my care and devotion to this site has dwindled at all. It hasn’t.
I’ve just been caught up with some exciting projects and am struggling to hit deadlines. All of these projects bear in either direct or indirect ways on Ozarks Unbound.
And in positive ways.
I don’t want to be cryptic, so I’ll pass on these tidbits. We’re going to try something unique when it comes to our election coverage. It might bomb, but my earnest hope is that it is enlightening and helpful to the electoral process. I hope to have this project live by the end of the month.
The second project is a continuation and expansion of my first hobby blog – Fayettevittles – where I got to do food writing. This should also be ready for public scrutiny by the end of the month.
Finally, I’m a finalist to attend the Knight Digital Media Center’s News Entrepreneur Boot Camp in May. These are news marketing skills I lack and I’m jazzed about the opportunity to gain them in an intensive one-week setting. I have to complete an assignment for the final assessment by interviewing a entrepreneur in the industry with wisdom to impart.
I chose Max Brantley, whose Arkansas Times blog is a centerpiece in the emerging online journo-sphere in Arkansas.
Max was nice enough to let me interview him for the assignment and I’m headed down to Little Rock this morning to talk with him at Iriana’s Pizza – one of my mainstay pizza places when I lived in Capital City.
That assignment is due by March 22 and I have to teach myself to use PowerPoint as a component of the presentation. Yikes.
So the small hamster-size wheel (aka My Brain) that powers Ozarks Unbound is being pulled in different positive directions.
I plan to get some new content up this week and will try to put items on Clipped Fresh as I can. March might be a little light though as I work through these deadlines.
I really appreciate your understanding and your loyalty to reading this experimental news site.
Oh, Ozarks Unbound turns 10-months-old on Wednesday.
