Received a forwarded e-mail today from Brian Bailey of the Fayetteville Visitors Bureau stating that First Thursday Fayetteville’s new lead organization is looking for artists.

My understanding is that the organization is going to allow local artists to set up somewhere on or near the Fayetteville Square and present their art in a Farmers’ Market fashion during the April Fools Day event.

I’ll go ahead and go on record – Fantastic idea!  I have to say this is filled with win.

If you are an artist interested in presenting your work during this trial month, you should contact Brian at the Fayetteville Visitors Center at 479.521.5776.

Here are some of the comments directly from his e-mail:

The website is www.firstthursdayfayetteville.com but it may not be filled with enough info to answer questions for artists.  They can call me and I can explain it better…again, the first month (April) is just a trial with no fees for setting up…here are a few guidelines you can share:

-I need several different mediums

-No graphic violence or nudity

-must be totally created or produced locally (no craft fair or flea market type product)

-Event is 5-8…can set up after 4p and must tear down before 8:30p

-Only the space is provided by us…artist must provide all display materials (tables, tents, hanging walls, easels, etc.)

*and please know that this first month we may stumble a bit, but I trust you to put me touch with artists that will give honest feedback and help make the event better.

Thanks again for the support!
